![]() I listen to the movies loud but never exceeding -5 and never so loud that I would expect distortion.Īny input would be helpful, for it will aid my decision to get the amp serviced, keep it switched off or on. I should think the NAD could handle these speakers. I have Energy Reference Connoisseur speakers: RC-70 mains, RC-30's as rears, and the RC-LCR center. Perhaps my circuit is faulty or does not match my demands. ![]() I turned off the Soft Clipping feature, powered up the amp again and behold, it seems as the distortion has gone.Ĭould this be true? I thought the Soft Clipping circuit was to remove distortion, not add it. I then thumbed through my manual for my power amp after feeling though I've exhausted all other solutions and stumbled on the "Soft Clipping" switch located on my power amp. I thought to myself "how can such a new movie on such a good format have distortion". Tonight while watching Troy - special edition on Blu-Ray I noticed certain distortion. The 7400 is seen on the cover of Audios October issue. I've tried setting my input levels all the way down to no avail, I switched it to two channel mode and still recieved this distortion. The 7100 is now listed at 749, the 7400 drops to 999 and the 7600 stays at 1,599. I thought it was the source, or maybe blown center channel or bad wire. ![]() ![]() Over the last couple months i've noticed slight break up in the treble especially in the center channel during particular dialog. Analog tape, and tube processors like EQs, compressors, and limiters, all typically exhibit a degree of soft clipping when driven hard, however solid state electronics like transistors can also have soft clipping behavior. I own a NAD T973 140X7 power amp and it's mate NAD T163 Pre/Pro Soft clipping is a style of saturationor distortioncharacteristic of many beloved types of analog hardware. ![]()
